Temporary Road Closure on Elgin Street - Feb. 7, 2018

On Wednesday, Feb. 7, Elgin Street will be temporarily closed between Maple Avenue and Brock Avenue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for crane activity.

Signs and barricades will be posted to help direct traffic.

Burlington, Ont. - Feb. 12, 2018 - Please note a third open house date has been added on the afternoon of Thursday, Feb. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. at City Hall in Council Chambers, located on the second floor.

Burlington, Ont. – Feb. 6, 2018— Opportunities for the public to ask questions and share comments about Burlington’s proposed new Official Plan continue with two more open house events on Feb. 12 and 15 and a statutory public meeting on Feb. 27.

The most recent version of the proposed new Official Plan (February 2018) contains revisions that were made as a result of feedback the city received at the Nov. 30, 2017 statutory public meeting, the Jan. 23, 2018 public meeting, through written submissions and from directions of Council.

City of Burlington buys strategic office building at 390 Brant St.

The City of Burlington is the new owner of 390 Brant St., known as Sims Square, becoming the building’s landlord and preserving key office space in downtown Burlington.

The city has been leasing space at 390 Brant St. for employee use since 2005. The city uses 21,736 square feet of the building, which is one third of the building’s leasable floor space, to house four city departments and project teams.

City operations at 390 Brant St. include the Finance, Legal and Human Resources departments as well as some services from Capital Works and Parks and Recreation, including Festivals and Events.

The six-storey building has 61,000 square feet, a surface parking lot and underground parking.

The city will maintain the current tenants and contracts to ensure seamless operation of 390 Brant St. All existing leases in the building will remain in place with few changes to the current operation of the building.

Burlington, Ont. – Feb. 2, 2018— The City of Burlington is inviting the public to share their thoughts and ideas about what would improve cycling in Burlington. The feedback will be used to help shape the city’s new Cycling Plan which will guide the future of cycling infrastructure in the city.

Opportunities to participate are available through an online survey open until Feb. 23, 2018, and a series of drop-in events throughout the community. For a full list of dates and locations, visit www.burlington.ca/cyclingplan.

Mayor’s State of the City Address: Burlington is safe, economically strong and ready for the future, says Mayor Goldring

Burlington, Ont. – Feb. 1, 2018—Burlington is a safe and healthy city with a high quality of life, a strong economy and a plan for the future, Burlington Mayor Rick Goldring told a crowd of more than 400 people this morning.

The mayor was speaking at his eighth annual Mayor’s State of the City Address held at the Burlington Convention Centre and hosted by the Burlington Chamber of Commerce. Mayor Goldring gave a 20-minute address, followed by a moderated question-and-answer session. The address and session are available on Facebook.
