Burlington based financial technology start-up, WayPay purchased by RBC to add automated account payables solution to RBC’s industry-leading suite of digitally-enabled business offerings

Road Closure - Deer Run Avenue

Deer Run Avenue will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019; local access only.

The closure will be from Woodside Avenue to Hunters Wood Drive. 

The closure is so crews can work on the storm sewer which involves digging.

Five community projects receive funding from the City of Burlington

The City of Burlington is investing $30,895 in five community projects as part of this year’s Neighbourhood Community Matching Fund program.

The selected groups will receive funding from the City, up to a maximum of $10,000. The community groups behind each project will then match the city’s funding with an equal contribution made through any combination of volunteer hours, donated services, donated materials and supplies or other funds raised, such as cash donations.

This year’s Neighbourhood Community Matching Fund recipients are:

Burlington Lawn Bowling

Establish a junior lawn bowling program.

LIFT Kids

Offer the community an afternoon drop-in program in the park for eight weeks in July and August. The free programs are offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays at Bolus Gardens Parkette and Hidden Valley Park for children between the ages of five to 11 years.

Build a new parkette that is inclusive with accessible playground equipment, picnic tables and bike racks along the Waterfront...

Extended Road Closure of a Section of Brock Avenue at Ontario Street - Starts July 11, 2019

Beginning Thursday, July 11, 2019, a portion of Brock Avenue, between Ontario Street and the entrance to the Brock Avenue parking lot, will be closed for a period of two years to allow for the construction of a development at 490-492 Brock Ave. 

In accordance with to the City’s Delegated Authority ByLaw 99-2012, a full road closure request longer than five days requires Council approval. The Brock Avenue road closure was approved by Burlington City Council at the Nov. 12, 2018 meeting of Council in report TS-15-18.

During the construction:

  • Pedestrian access to the sidewalk on the west side of Brock Avenue will be closed
  • The sidewalk on the south side of Ontario Street will remain open with a covered pedestrian walkway
  • The entrance to the parking lot on Brock Avenue will remain open at all times.

There are no residential accesses within the proposed closure limits.

Elgin Street will be closed, between Locust Street and Blathwayte Lane, for crane activity on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Local traffic will detoured along Locust Street and Ontario Street.
